Burning tires are important because they block the view of enemy snipers and soldiers. They are widely used in the West Bank, and played a significant role in the 2018 Tire Friday, when young men from Gaza gathered tires from all over the Strip and carried them on their backs, donkeys, and carts to reach the fence. There, they stacked them up together and set them on fire, then stormed through the smoke to plant a Palestinian flag on the fence and return safely.
